Background
John Wentworth has been in Human Resources since 1973.
John brought his whole team to Orphalese Global Strategies,
Inc.
He was Corporate Manager of Compensation and Affirmative Action
for TOSCO Corporation (1976-79), Personnel Director for Carte
Blanche (1973-75) and Compensation Supervisor for Mattel (1975-76).
He has been designated a Senior Professional in Human
Resources by the Human Resources Certification Institute.
He became a recruiter in 1979.
Born in La Jolla, CA, John grew up in Southern California.
He graduated from Boston
University with a degree in Communications. After college,
he photographed and edited television commercials and industrial
films.
He served in Viet Nam, between Tet 1968 and Tet 1969, as an
infantry rifleman with the 1st Cavalry Division. He returned
a SGT.
After the Army, he attended graduate school at UCLA briefly
and made movies again.
In 1971, the Inglewood Schools employed him as a race relations
trainer. A year later, he began his human resources career.
He has two young children, Michael and Amy.
He has served as the president of the San Pedro Peninsula
Hospital Foundation and the Professionals in Human Resources
Association (PIHRA) Foundation, the Chair of the Westside
Center for Independent Living Computer Training Project Business
Advisory Council and a member of the parent organization's
Board of Directors. He has also served on the Board of Directors
of the San Pedro Chamber of Commerce and chaired the Harbor
Area Economic Development Tourism Taskforce for Los Angeles
15th District Councilman Rudy Svorinich. He has been a volunteer
SCUBA diver for the Catalina Conservancy Divers (CCD) and
the Long Beach Aquarium of the Pacific. He is a member of
the West Coast Advisory Council for Howard University's School
of Radio, Television and Film. Additionally, he served for
a year as the President of the Board of Harbor Commissioners
for the Port of Los Angeles.
